Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 2518.

Let the number of votes polled be x.

According to the given question,

Valid votes = x - 68

Votes got by winning candidate = 52% of (x - 68)

Votes got by loosing candidate = 48% of (x - 68)

Now, 52% of (x - 68) - 48% of (x - 68) = 98

⇒ 4% of (x - 68) = 98

⇒ x - 68 = 2450

⇒ x = 2450 + 68

⇒ x = 2518
