An electric heater was sold at a profit of 12%. If its cost had been 5% less and it had been sold for ₹180 less, the profit would have been 10%. What is the cost price of the electric heater?
Show answer & explanation
Correct answer: C
Explanation
The correct answer is option 3 i.e. ₹2400
Let's assume the cost price of the electric heater = 100
So, SP of the heater after 12 % profit = 100 × 112/100 = 112
ATQ,
If he purchases the heater 5% less then CP = 100 × (100-5)/100 = 95
For 10% profit, the Sp of the heater = 95 × 110/100 = 104.5
We have given, the difference in the = 112 - 104.5 = 7.5
7.5 = 180
So, 100 = 180/7.5 × 100 = Rs 2400
