Alok starts walking from P with speed of 6 km/h towards Q.Raman starts at same time from P towards Q with speed of 9 km/h Raman reaches Q,turns back and starts walking towards P.He meets Alok at R.If PQ is 15 km,then what is PR?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

Correct Answer is option 2 i.e. 12 km

Understanding

Application

Speed of Alok = 6 km/hr

Speed of Raman = 9 km/hr

PQ = 15 km

Time in which Raman will reach Q = 15/9 = 5/3 hours

Distance covered by Alok in 5/3 hours = 5/3 × 6 = 10 km

So,

Remaining distance = 15 – 10 = 5 km

Since, Raman returned back after reaching Q:

Time in which Alok and Raman will meet at R = 5/(9 + 6) = 5/15 = 1/3 hours

So,

Distance covered by Alok in 1/3 hours = 1/3 × 6 = 2 km

Hence, PR = 10 + 2 = 12 km
