Understanding

Application

Calculation

Number is first increased by 1623{16}{\dfrac{2}{3}}%

Suppose the number = x

So,

Increased number = 7x/6

16(2/3)% = 50/3%

So,

x + 50x/300

= 7x/6

Then the number is decreased by 15% to get 238.

7x/6 × 0.85 = 238

⇒ x = 240

7x/6 × 0.85 = 238

⇒ 5.95x = 1428

⇒ x = 240

Now,

37.5 % of x = 90

⇒ 0.375 × 240

⇒ 3/8 × 240

⇒ 90
