A thief is noticed by a policeman from a distance of 150 m. The thief starts running and the policeman chases him. The thief and the policeman run at the rate of 8 kmph and 10 kmph respectively. At what distance will the policeman catch the thief?

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 750 meter.

Since both of them are running in the same direction, relative speed = 10 - 8 = 2 km/h = 59\frac{5}{9}m/s

Speed = distancetime\frac{distance}{time}

Hence the time taken by the policeman to cover 150 m = 150×95\frac{150 × 9 }{5} = 270 seconds 

The distance covered by him in 270 seconds = 270 × 10 × 518\frac{5}{18} = 750 meters.
