Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 4. i.e. 48, 24, 16.

Given:

A takes twice as much time as B and thrice as much time as C to finalise a task

A, B and C can together complete the task in 8 days.

Explanation:

Let the time taken by A, B and C are x days, x/2 days and x/3 days respectively.

According to the given question, 1x+2x+3x=18{1 \over x} + {2 \over x} + {3 \over x} = {1 \over 8}

⇒ x = 48

So, A takes 48 days to complete it alone.

B takes x/2 = 48/2 = 24 days to complete it alone

C takes x/3 = 48/3 = 16 days to complete it alone

Hence the time taken by A, B and C alone is 48, 24, 16 days respectively.
