SSC CPO 2019 PYQ — Question 115

SSC CPO Tier I - 13th December 2019 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q115

A sum of Rs. 12000 is divided between A, B, C, and D such that the ratio of share of A and B is 8 : 9, that of B and C is 2 : 3 and that of C and D is 9 : 13. What is the difference between the share of B and D?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 2520

The total amount of the sum = 12000

Ratio of share of A and B = 8/9 = 16/18

Ratio of share of B and C = 2/3 = 18/27

Ratio of share of C and D = 9/13 = 27/39

Hence,

A : B : C : D = 16 : 18 : 27 : 39

So, 16x + 18x + 27x + 39x = 12000

⇒ x = 120

Share of B = 120 × 18 = 2160

Share of D = 120 × 39 = 4680

Difference = 4680 - 2160 = 2520
