SSC CGL 2025 PYQ — Question 51

SSC CGL - 21 Sep 2025 - Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q51

A right-angled triangle ABC has legs AB = 6 cm and BC = 8 cm. An altitude BD is drawn from the vertex B to the hypotenuse AC. What is the length of the altitude BD?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 4.8 cm.

Hypotenuse (AC) = 62+82\sqrt{6^2 + 8^2} = 100\sqrt{100} = 10 cm

Area = 121\over2 × 6 × 8 = 24 cm2

⇒ 24 = 121\over2 × 10 × BD

⇒ 24 = 5BD

⇒ BD = 24524\over5 = 4.8 cm
