A man sells articles for Rs.620 each, one at a profit of 24% and the other at a loss of 24%. What is his loss/profit percent in the whole transaction?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 4 i.e. Loss,5.76.

Formula Used:

C.P.=S.P.×100(100+/−P/L)C.P. = S.P. \times {100 \over (100 +/- P/L)}

Explanation:

According to the given question,

Cost price at a profit of 24% = 620×100(100+24)620 \times {100 \over (100 +24)} = 500

Also, Cost price at a loss of 24% = 620×100(100−24)620 \times {100 \over (100 - 24)} = 815.8

Now, Total cost price of selling both articles = 500 + 815.8 = 1315.8

Also, total selling price = 620 + 620 = 1240

So, Loss = 1315.8 - 1240 = 75.8

Now, Loss % = 75.81315.8×100{75.8 \over 1315.8} \times 100 = 5.76%

Hence the required answer is loss = 5.76%.
