SSC CGL - 13 April 2022 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q57

A Kite Flying at a height of 120 m is attached to a string which makes an angles of 60° with the horizontal . What is the length ( in m ) of the string ?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 80 √3

Height of the flying kite H = 120 m

Angle with the horizontal = 60°

A flying kite will make a right-angle triangle and string will be the hypotenuse of this triangle so we use the sine of an angle to find out the string length.

Length of the String = L m

sin x = H/L

sin 60° = 120/L

32 = 120/L

L = 80√3 m
