Given:

A = 1.2B, B = 1.25C, C = 0.4D, D = 1.2E

Suppose E = 100;

then

D = 120,

C = 0.4 × 120 = 48

B = 1.25 × 48 = 60

A = 1.2 × 60 = 72

Option 1: C is 24% less than A.

C = 48, A = 72

24% less than A = 0.76 × 72 = 54.72 ≠ C (Given statement is false)

Option 2: A is 40% less than D.

A = 72, D = 120

40% less than D = 120 × 0.6 = 72 = A (Given statement is true)

Option 3: E is 28% more than A.

E = 100, A = 72

28% more than A = 1.28 × 72 = 92.16 ≠ E (Given statement is false)

Option 4: D is 60% less than B.

Since D = 120, B = 60 (Given statement is false)
