SSC CGL - 4th June 2019 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q68

A circle is inscribed in a triangle ABC. It touches the sides AB, BC and AC at the points R, P and Q respectively. If AQ = 4.5 cm, PC = 5.5 cm and BR = 6 cm, then the perimeter of the ΔABC is:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

Correct answer is option 3 i.e. 32 cm

Concept

Application

The tangents drawn on a circle from a common point are of same length always.

Given:

AQ = 4.5 cm, PC = 5.5 cm, BR = 6 cm

Tangent AR = AQ = 4.5 cm

Tangent BR = BP = 6 cm

Tangent CP = CQ = 5.5 cm

Hence,

Perimeter of ABC = AR + BR + BP + PC + CQ + QA

= 4.5 + 6 + 6 + 5.5 + 5.5 + 4.5

= 32 cm
