Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e  5.7%

Let the number of students in School X = 100a

The number of students in School Y = 230a. (130% more than X)

20% students of School X are failed = 20a

Number of students from school X who pass the examination = 100a - 20a = 80a.

Total number of students from school X and Y = 330a

90% of total students passed the examination = 90/100 × 330a = 297a

Number of students who pass from School Y = 297a - 80a = 217a

Number of students who failed from School Y = 230a - 217a = 13a.

Percentage of students from school Y who failed the examination = 13a / 230a × 100 = 5.7%
