A bag contains 50 kg of pulses. There are three pulses, A, B, and C, mixed in it in the ratio of 4 : 3 : 3. The prices of pulses A, B, and C are ₹80 per kg, ₹60 per kg and ₹80 per kg respectively. What will be the average cost of 1 kg mixture of pulses?
Show answer & explanation
Correct answer: A
Explanation
The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. ₹74.
A bag contains 50 kg of pulses
Quantity of pulse A = 50 × 4/10 = 20
Quantity of pulse B = 50 × 3/10 = 15
Quantity of pulse C = 50 × 3/10 = 15
Price of 20 kg pulse A = 20 × 80 = Rs.1600
Price of 15 kg pulse B = 15 × 60 = Rs.900
Price of 15 kg pulse C = 15 × 80 = Rs.1200
We know that,
Average = Sum of observations/Number of observations
Average = (1600 + 900 + 1200)/50
⇒ 3700/50 = Rs.74
