SSC CGL 2020 PYQ — Question 52

SSC CGL - 3rd March 2020 Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q52

A, B and C are three points on a circle such that the angles subtended by the chord AB and AC at the centre O are 110º and 130º, respectively. Then the value of ∠BAC is:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e. 60º

Application

According to question:

ΔAOB and ΔAOC both are Isosceles triangles.

So,

∠OAC = ∠OCA & ∠OAB = ∠OBA

In triangle ΔAOB:

⇒ ∠OAC + ∠OCA + ∠AOC = 180

⇒ 2∠OAC = 180 - 130

⇒ 2∠OAC = 50

⇒ ∠OAC = 25º

&

Similarly

∠OAB = 35º

Hence,

∠BAC = 25 + 35 = 60º
