X, Y, and Z completed a work costing Rs. 3,400. X worked for 5 days, Y for 7 days, and Z for 10 days. If their daily wages are in the ratio of 4 : 5 : 3, how much amount will be received by X?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. Rs. 800.

Concept used:

Total wages = Days × Wages/day

Calculation:

Ratio of the wages (X : Y : Z) = (4 × 5 : 5 × 7 : 10 × 3) = 4 : 7 : 6

Total wages = 4k + 7k + 6k = 17k

⇒ 17k = Rs 3,400

⇒ k = 3,400/17 = 200

Hence, the share of X = 4k

⇒ 4 × 200 = Rs 800
