Direcions: A battery manufacturer manufactures five different types of batteries. The total revenue for the year 2020 is ₹25,00,000 and 20,000 units were exported in 2020. The distribution of revenue and units for the five different types of batteries is shown in the charts.

Which type of battery provides the lowest revenue per unit?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. Lead acid.

The total revenue for the year 2020 = ₹25,00,000 and

20,000 units were exported in 2020

Here,

Revenue = Total revenue from all types of battery/Total units sold of that type

Now, from the given pie-chart

For Li- ion:

Units sold: 30% of 20000 = 6000

Revenue = 35% of 2500000 = 8750000

Revenue per unit = 8750000/6000 = 145.83 units

For Sodium:

Units sold: 2% of 20000 = 400

Revenue = 5% of 2500000 = 125000

Revenue per unit = 125000/400 = 312.5 units

For M-air:

Units sold: 20% of 20000 = 4000

Revenue = 20% of 2500000 = 500000

Revenue per unit = 500000/4000 = 125 units

For lead acid:

Units sold: 35% of 20000 = 7000

Revenue = 25% of 2500000 = 625000

Revenue per unit = 625000/7000 = 89.23 units

For S - capacitor:

Units sold: 13% of 20000 = 26000

Revenue = 15% of 2500000 = 375000

Revenue per unit = 375000/2600 = 144.42 units

Hence,

Lead acid provides lowest revenue
