SSC GD Constable (English) - 27 Jan 2023 - Shift 4 • Reasoning • Q80

Which two signs should be interchanged to make the equation mathematically correct?

24 + 36 × 32 − 8 ÷ 20 = 148

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. ÷ and −.

Given equation: 24 + 36 × 32 − 8 ÷ 20 = 148

Option 1: + and ÷

After interchanging the expression becomes:

= 24 ÷ 36 × 32 − 8 + 20 = 148

= 33.33 is not equal to 148.

Option 2: ÷ and −

After interchanging the expression becomes:

= 24 + 36 × 32 ÷ 8 - 20 = 148

= 24 + 36 × 4 - 20

= 24 + 144 - 20

= 168 - 20

= 148 = 148

As we have found our answer, there is no need to check further options.

Hence, ÷ and − is the correct answer.
