Which two signs should be interchanged to make the given equation correct?

5 – 24 + 17 × 16 ÷ 4 = 133

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. × and –.

Given equation: 5 – 24 + 17 × 16 ÷ 4 = 133

Option 1: + and ÷

After interchanging the expression becomes:

= 5 – 24 ÷ 17 × 16 + 4 = 133

= -13.58 is not equal to 133.

Option 2: × and –

After interchanging the expression becomes:

= 5 × 24 + 17 - 16 ÷ 4 = 133

= 133 is equal to 133.

As we have found our answer, so, there is no need of checking other options.

Hence, option 2 is the correct answer.
