Which payload on the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) captured full-disk colour images of Mars?
Show answer & explanation
Correct answer: D
Explanation
The correct answer is option 4 i.e. MCC.
The Mars Color Camera (MCC) was the payload on India's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) responsible for capturing full-disk colour images of the Red Planet.
Operating in the visible light spectrum, the MCC featured a versatile tri-color linear array sensor. It monitored dynamic surface features, atmospheric events like dust storms, and Mars' outer moons, Phobos and Deimos. Due to MOM's highly elliptical orbit, the MCC was uniquely positioned to take breathtaking, high-resolution global shots of the entire Martian disk from its farthest point (apoapsis).
