Correct answer: B
Explanation
The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
The government initiative that focuses on skill development to reduce open unemployment among youth in India is the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). Launched in 2015, it provides industry-relevant skill training to help youth secure better livelihood opportunities. The scheme offers short-term training, recognition of prior learning, and placement support. Unlike programs like MGNREGA (wage employment), PM KUSUM (solar power), or Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (cleanliness), PMKVY directly addresses unemployment by equipping young people with employable skills.
