When 32% of a number X was added to another number y , then y increases by 24%. The value of (2x+y)/(3x+y) is:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 2.

32% of x = 32x/100 = 0.32x

24% of y = 24y/100 = 0.24t

ATQ -

0.32x + y = 1.24y

0.32x = 0.24y

x/y = 0.24/0.32

x/y = 3/4

Required value = (2x + y)/(3x - y)

Substituting value of x = 3 and y = 4

(2x + y)/(3x + y) = [2(3) + 4]/[3(3) - 4] = (6 + 4)/(9 - 4) = 10/5 = 2
