What is the total surface area of a pyramid whose base is a square with side 8 cm and
height of the pyramid is 3 cm?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e. 144 cm2

Formula used

The total surface area of the pyramid whose base is a square = ½ * perimeter of base * slant height + Area of the base

The slant height of the pyramid = √(42 + 32) = 5 cm

Calculation

The total surface area of the pyramid =  ½ * 8 * 4 * 5 + 64 = 80 + 64 = 144 cm2
