What is the quorum of the Lok Sabha at the time of the Presidential address, which is held at the opening of each session of the Lok Sabha?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is  option 1  i.e. One-tenth.

The quorum for a session of the Lok Sabha (or the Rajya Sabha) is one-tenth of the total number of members. As per Article 100(3) of the Indian Constitution and the Rules of Procedure of both Houses, the minimum number of members required to be present to conduct a sitting of the Lok Sabha is one-tenth of its total strength. Given that the total strength of the Lok Sabha is 545, at least 55 members must be present to meet the quorum requirement. If quorum is not met, the House is adjourned or suspended until it is.
