What is the difference between the royalties earned by x and Y (in Rs.) during the years 2014 and 2015 taken together?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

Correct Answer is option 4 i.e. 57000

Application

Number of copies sold in India in 2014 & 2015 = (3.5 + 5) × 100 = 850

Number of copies sold in abroad in 2014 & 2015 = (4.5 + 5.5) × 100 = 1000

Selling amount in India = 850 × 800 = 680000

Selling amount in abroad = 1000 × 1000 = 1000000

Royalty received in India = 680000 × 10/100 = 68000

Royalty received in abroad = 1000000 × 16/100 = 160000

Total royalty = 68000 + 160000 = 228000

The royalty amount is distributed among X and Y in the ratio = 5 : 3

8 unit = 228000

⇒ 2 unit = 57000

Difference between the royalties earned by x and Y = Rs. 57000
