Two stations T1 and T2 are 300 km apart. A car starts from station T1 at 8 am and moves towards station T2 at a speed of 45km/hr and at 10 am another car starts from station T2 and moves towards T1 at a speed of 60km/hr. Then the cars will meet at:
Show answer & explanation
Correct answer: C
Explanation
The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 12:00 p.m.
Given,
Distance between T1 and T2 station = 300 km
Speed of car 1 = 45 km/h and speed of car 2 = 60 km/h
We know,
Distance = speed × time
According to the question,
Distance covered by car 1 by 10 am
⇒ 45 × 2 = 90 km
Remaining distance = 300 - 90 = 210 km
Relative speed of car 1 and car 2 = Speed of car 1 + speed of car 2 (moving towards each other)
⇒ 45 + 60 = 105
Time taken to cover the remaining distance = 210/105 = 2 hour
Hence, the cars will meet = 10 am + 2 hours = 12:00 pm
