Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 224 : 275.

Let the numbers be: 4x and 5x

According to the question,

4x−175x−174x-17\over5x-17 = 111411\over14

⇒ 14(4x - 17) = 11(5x - 17)

⇒ 56x - 238 = 55x - 187

⇒ x = 51

Original numbers:

⇒ 4x = 204

⇒ 5x = 255

Adding 20 to each number: (204 + 20), (255 + 20)

Ratio = 224275224\over275 = 224 : 275
