We know that,

Volume of the cube = a³

here, a or b = side of the cube

The ratio of the volumes of the two cubes is 1 : 125

⇒ a³/b³ = 1/125

⇒ a/b = 1/5 

Now,

Surface area = 6a²

The ratio of the surface areas = Surface Area of Smaller Cube/Surface Area of larger Cube

⇒ 6a²/6b² = a²/b² = (1/5)² = 1/25

Thus, The ratio of the surface areas of the two cubes is 1 : 25
