To do a certain  work, A and B work on alternative days with B beginning the work on the first day. A alone can complete the same work in 24 days. If the work gets completed in 1113\frac{1}{3}days, then B alone can complete 79\frac{7}{9}th part of the original work in:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 6 days.

Suppose the total work is '1' unit

According to the work done by A in a day is (1/24) unit

Also, If Both A and B are working on alternate days for 11.33 days, starting with B then, B will work for days 6 and A will work for 5.33 days.

So, if B is doing 'b' units/day then,

⇒ (1/24)(5.33) + b(6) = 1

⇒ b = 0.12965 day

Hence, to do (7/9)th part of the work it will take [(7/9)/(0.12965)] = 6 days
