Understanding

Application

Calculation

Ratio = 3 : 4 : 6.

Suppose the numbers are 3x, 4x & 6x.

Given: sum of their squares is 244.

So,

(3x)2 + (4x)2 + (6x)2 = 244

⇒ x = 2

⇒ (3x)2 + (4x)2 + (6x)2 = 244

⇒ 9x2 + 16x2 + 36x2 = 244

⇒ 61x2 = 244

⇒ x2 = 4

⇒ x = 2

Largest number = 6x

Hence,

The largest number = 2 × 6 = 12
