Three numbers are in the ratio 2:3:5. If their average is 100, what is the difference between the largest and the smallest number?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 90.

Let numbers = 2x, 3x, 5x

Average = 2x+3x+5x32x + 3x + 5x\over 3 = 100

⇒ 10x/3 = 100

⇒ 10x = 300

⇒ x = 30

Numbers = 60, 90, 150

Difference = 150 − 60 = 90
