Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 5,400 cm2

Given that

The radius of the wooden sphere = 15√3 cm

SAT Subject Math Level 1&2 Practice Question 131: Answer and Explanation_cracksat.net

The diameter of the sphere (d) = 2 × radius = 2 × 15√3 = 30√3 cm

As shown in the figure

The diameter of the sphere = the diagonal of the cube = 30√3 cm

s√3 = 30√3 cm

The side of the cube ( s ) = 30 cm

Hence, the total surface area of the cube  = 6 s2 = 6 × 302 = 5400 cm2
