There is a slide in a park. One of its side walls, shaped like a triangle, is painted with a message: “RESPECT NATURE, PRESERVE GREENERY.” If the sides of the wall are 13 m, 14 m, and 15 m, what is the area painted in color?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

Sides of the triangle = 13 m, 14 m, 15 m

Semi-perimeter = (13 + 14 + 15) / 2 = 21 m

According to Heron's formula,

Area = √[21 × (21 − 13) × (21 − 14) × (21 − 15)]

= √(21 × 8 × 7 × 6)

= √7056

= 84 square meters
