SSC GD Constable (English) - 12 Feb 2019 Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q58

The volume of a right circular cone is equal to the volume of that right circular cylinder whose height is 48 cm and diameter of its base is 20 cm.If the height of the cone is 16 cm, then what will be the diameter of its base?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 60 cm.

Understanding/Application

Vol. of cone = Vol. of cylinder

Diameter of cylinder = 20 cm

Radius of cylinder = 10 cm

Height of cylinder = 48 cm

Height of cone = 16 cm

Let the radius of cone be r.

Vol. of cylinder = Vol. of cone

πr2h =  (πr2h)/3

100(48) = 16r2/3

r2 = 900

r = 30

Diameter of cone = 2r = 60 cm
