The volume of a right circular cone is 1848 cm3. If the area of its base is 154 cm2 , what is the vertical height of the cone?  [Use π = 22/7]

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 36 cm.

Volume of cone =13πr2h = {1 \over 3} \pi r^2 h

Area of circular base = πr2

Volume of cone = 1848 cm3

Area of base = 154 cm2

Now, πr2= 154

⇒22/7 × r2 = 154

⇒ r2 = 49

⇒ r = 7

Now using the formula for the volume of the cone,

Volume of cone =13πr2h = {1 \over 3}\pi r^2 h

⇒1/3 × 22/7 × 72 × h = 1848

⇒ h = (1848 × 3)/(22 × 7)

⇒ h = 36

Hence the required height of the cone is 36 cm.
