The volume of a cuboid is twice the volume of a cube. If the dimensions of the cuboid are 12 cm, 16 cm, and 18 cm, then the total surface area of the cube is:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 864 cm2.

Volume of a cuboid = length × breadth × height

Volume of a cuboid = 12 × 16 × 18 = 3456 cm3

Volume of the cube = 3456/2 = 1728 cm3

Volume of the cube = a3 [a = side]

⇒ 1728 = a3

⇒ a = 12 cm

Surface area of cube = 6a2

⇒ 6 × 122 = 864 cm2
