SSC CGL - 6th March 2020 Shift 2 • Reasoning • Q76

The two given expressions on both sides of the '=' signs will have the same value if two numbers from either side or both side are interchanged. Select the correct numbers to be interchanged from the given options.

4 + 6 × 7 - 27 ÷ 3 = 7 × 8 - 4 + 39 ÷ 3

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 6, 8

Understanding

Given equation: 4 + 6 × 7 - 27 ÷ 3 = 7 × 8 - 4 + 39 ÷ 3

Check the options

Option 1: 3, 4

After interchanging the equation becomes;

⇒ 3 + 6 × 7 - 27 ÷ 4 = 7 × 8 - 3 + 39 ÷ 4

⇒ 38.25 is not equal to 68.25.

Hence, option 1 is not the correct answer.

Option 2: 6, 8

After interchanging the equation becomes;

⇒ 4 + 8 × 7 - 27 ÷ 3 = 7 × 6 - 4 + 39 ÷ 3

⇒ 51 = 51

Since we got our answer, we don't need to check other options.

Hence, option 2 is the correct answer.
