SSC CGL Tier II - Quant - 3 Feb 2022 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q5

The sum of the three fractions A, B and C (A > B > C)  is 12160\frac{121}{60}. When C is divided by B, the resulting fraction is 910\frac{9}{10}, which exceeds A by 320\frac{3}{20}. What is the difference between B and C?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 115\frac{1}{15}

According to the question,

C/B = 9/10..........(1)

A = 9/10 - 3/20

A = 15/20 = 3/4

A + B + C = 121/60

B + C = 121/60 - 3/4 = 76/60

10x + 9x = 76/60......( from eq 1)

x = 1/15

C = 10x = 10 × 1/15 = 10/15

B = 9x = 9 × 1/15 = 9/15

C - B = 10/15 - 9/15 = 1/15.
