SSC GD Constable (English) - 7th December 2021 Shift 1 • Reasoning • Q82

The sum of five consecutive multiples of 7 is 455. What is the largest number in this series?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 105.

Let the five consecutive multiples of 7 be 7a, 7a + 7, 7a + 14, 7a + 21, and 7a + 28.

According to the question;

7a + 7a + 7 + 7a + 14 + 7a + 21 + 7a + 28 = 455

35a + 70 = 455

35a = 385

a = 11

Numbers are 77, 84, 91, 98, and 105.

The largest number in the series is 105.
