The slant height and radius of a right circular cone are in the ratio 29 : 20. If its volume is 4838.4π cm3, then its radius is:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

 The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 24 cm

Let the slant height and radius be 29x and 20x.

Height = (29x)2−(20x)2\sqrt{(29x)^2 - (20x)^2}

h = 21x

The volume of cone = 1/3 × π × r2 × h = 4838.4π.

14515.2 = 20x × 20x × 21x

x3 = 1.728

x = 1.2

Radius = 20x = 20 × 1.2 = 24 cm.
