The sides of a triangle are in the ratio 5 : 12 : 13 and its perimeter is 90 cm. Find its area (in cm2 ).

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 270​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​.

The sides of a triangle are in the ratio 5 : 12 : 13 = 5x : 12x : 13x

Perimeter = 90 cm

⇒ 5x + 12x + 13x = 90

⇒ 30x = 90

⇒ x = 3

Sides 

⇒ 5x = 15 cm

⇒ 12x = 36 cm

⇒ 13x = 39 cm

Area of triangle = 1/2 × b × h

⇒ 1/2 × 36 × 15 = 18 × 15 = 270 cm2
