The ratio of the two numbers is 5 : 8 and their LCM is 840. What are the two numbers?

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 105, 168.

Let the two numbers be =5x  and  8x

LCM (5x, 8x) = LCM (5, 8) × x = 40x

⇒ 40x=840⇒x=84040=2140x = 840 \Rightarrow x = \frac{840}{40} = 21

First number = 5x = 5 × 21 = 105

Second number = 8x = 8 × 21 = 168
