The ratio of the present ages of A and B is 5: 6. Eight years ago, the ratio of their ages was 4: 5. What will be the ratio of the ages of A and B after 8 years from now?

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 6 : 7.

Let present ages be 5x and 6x

8 years ago:

(5x−8)(6x−8)=45{{(5x-8)\over(6x-8)}} = {4\over5}

⇒ 5(5x − 8) = 4(6x − 8)

⇒ 25x − 40 = 24x − 32

⇒ x = 8

A’s age = 5x = 40

B’s age = 6x = 48

After 8 years: A = 48, B = 56

Ratio = 48 : 56 = 6 : 7
