Directions: Study the following pie chart and answer the following questions.

The ratio of the number of boys to that of girls in school C is 6:5 and that in school B is 7:11 then what is the ratio of the number of boys in school C to the number of girls in school B?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e. 12: 11

Application

C = 6:5

Total students in C = (79.2/360) × 9000 = 1980.

Now, 6x + 5x = 1980.

11x = 1980

x = 180.

Then, boys in school C = 6 × 180 = 1080.

B = 7:11

Total students = (64.8/360) × 9000 = 1620

So, 18x = 1620

x = 90.

So girls in school B = 11 × 90 = 990

Ratio = 1080 : 990 = 12 : 11
