The ratio of the father's age to his son's age is 5: 3. The product of the numbers representing their ages is 960. The ratio of their ages after 6 years will be:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 23:15.

Let the father's age = 5x and son's age = 3x

5x × 3x = 960 ⇒ 15x² = 960

⇒ x² = 64 ⇒ x = 8

So, father's age = 5×8 = 40 years

Son's age = 3×8 = 24 years

After 6 years:

Father = 46, Son = 30

Required ratio = 46 : 30 = 23 : 15
