The present age of Amit's father is 6 times Amit's age. After 6 years, his age will be three and a half times Amit's age. So how many times will his father's age be after 15 years from Amit's age

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e  2372\frac{3}{7} .

According to the given question,

Ratio of the age = amit's father : amit = 6x : 1x

After 6 years, he would be three and a half times of Amit’s age

(6x + 6)/(x + 6) = 3.5/1

⇒ 6x + 6 = 3.5x + 21

⇒ x = 6

amit's father : amit = 36 : 6

after 9 + 6 = 15 years:

(amit's father : amit) = (36 + 15) : (6 + 15) = 51 : 21

Now his father's age be than Amit's age = 51/21 = 2372\frac{3}{7}
