The perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 91 cm and its base is 1141{{1} \over 4}times each of its equal sides. What is the length (in cm) of its base?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e. 35.

Given:

Perimeter = 91 cm

Base = 1141{{1} \over 4} times each of the equal sides

Explanation:

Let the length of the two equal sides of the isosceles triangle be x cm each.

Then, Base = 1141{{1} \over 4} × x = 54{5\over 4}x

Now, according to the given question,

Perimeter = x + x +  54{5\over 4}x

⇒ 91 =  134x{13\over 4}x

 ⇒ x = 28

Now, Base =  54{5\over 4}x = 35 cm

Hence the required base is 35 cm.
