SSC CHSL 2024 PYQ — Question 75

SSC CHSL - 11 July 2024 - Shift 2 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q75

The measure of each side of an equilateral triangle is 16 cm. What is the ratio of its perimeter to the sum of its medians?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 2 : 3\sqrt{3}.

The perimeter of an equilateral triangle(P) = 3 × side

⇒ P = 3 × 16 = 48 cm

Now,

Median = 32\sqrt3 \over2 × a

Median = 32\sqrt3 \over2 × 16 = 83\sqrt3 cm

An equilateral triangle has three equal medians thus,

The sum of median = 3 × 83\sqrt3 = 243\sqrt3 cm

Thus,

Required ratio = Perimeter/Sum of medians = 4824348 \over {24\sqrt3} = 232\over {\sqrt3} = 2 : 3\sqrt3
