The marked price of a double bed is Rs.42000. The customer gets a cash discount of Rs.1000 and gets a scratch card promising a discount of 5% to 10%. Determine the difference between the least and the maximum selling price of the bed.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. Rs.2050.

The marked price of a double bed is Rs.42,000

The price of the bed when the customer gets a cash discount = 42000 - 1000 = Rs.41000

Now, the customer gets a scratch card promising a discount of 5%

So, the price of the bed = 41000 × 95% = Rs.38950

Now, the customer gets a scratch card promising a discount of 10%

So, the price of the bed = 41000 × 90% = Rs.36900

Difference = 38950 - 36900 = Rs.2050
