The lateral surface area of a cone is 550 cm2. If the diameter of the cone is 14cm, then the height of the cone is:

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 24 cm.

Diameter = 14 cm,

Radius = 7 cm

LSA = πrl [l = slant height]

⇒ 550 = 22722\over7 × 7 × l

⇒ l = 25 cm

⇒ l2 = r2 + h2

⇒ 252 = 72 + h2

⇒ h2 = (25 + 7)(25 - 7)

⇒ h2 = 32 × 18

⇒ h = 24 cm
